Muji was founded 30 years ago on the idea of branding simplicity, which defined traditional Japanese homes & gardens. It brought to market what it envisioned as quality goods with a no-label philosophy.

Marin Architects’ professional services were broken down into two phases. For Phase I, Marin developed as-built condition drawings from a detailed survey of the existing two-level proposed store location. Upon completion of the site investigation, an executive summary report was issued to outline the findings. The architectural pre-design phase additionally included the layout development for the escalator, elevator, and stairs between the two floors.

For Phase II, based on the schematic design provided by Muji, Marin developed a set of design development drawings as well as a full set of architectural, structural and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) construction document drawings. Our municipal services department facilitated the approvals for Alteration Type-2 Build-Out, fire alarm and sprinkler applications.

In total, Marin was asked to help roll out its four NYC stores including the flagship store on Fifth Avenue, as well as locations in Cooper Square, Chelsea, and SoHo.
