Mixed-use projects are on the upswing in the boroughs of New York, with many new projects required to house residential units to offset commercial development. The existing two-story structure at 26-20 Jackson Avenue was surveyed and as-built drawings were created to facilitate the design. Two stories were added to double the existing square footage.

The new building consists of ground floor retail with 9 residential units on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The residential units vary between two- and three-bedroom options with modern kitchens, an abundance of natural light, and access to a rooftop garden/gathering space.

Upon receiving the owner’s approval for design, Marin Architects provided a full set of construction documentation, including customary mechanical and electrical engineering services. Marin also provided professional expediting services for the approvals of addition/expansion and the sprinklers system.
